Thank you! I have listened to many many sopranos and coluraturas over the years since late 1960s. I know I will never come to any other singer that heralds the likes of Caballe's voice. By the many great names that have certainly made their mark, but there comes lovely Caballe with her unmistakable presence and her command of voice. We all know who we are hearing by her signature vocal texture. It was, too, her fascinating fiato, how she understood of the repertoires' music that she could only 'knock a drama out of the park.' She never failed to surprise me. And I am still stunned of such breath control in a heavenly beauty. Thank you, again!

If only one would solo Lakme and the other sing Nessun Dorma at the same exact time 😮😮

Much as I love Montsy, this is a mess.

There is something so charming about this. It seems true. No matter how old or young. The relationship between a maitress and her haindmaid is represented here well. As much as I understand this piece to be about. In our times, we have a hard time understanding this.

Sometimes one wonders is it a 'maledizione' to be a DIVA? Verdi only wrote what sounds he heard for that soprano role in tormented need to triumphant against her worldly fate to heaven's need of 'pace.' In truth, didn't Caballe know her fate? Take or leave world. Perfection is only found in G-D's perfection. Caballe was truly striving for her best excellence in her being only human. Irony. Brava DIVA🌹

I frankly don’t care if she didn’t have the highest notes she had so so much more to give and if I could only listen to one voice for all eternity it would be hers! Was she perfect (of course not) but at her prime she was thrilling and I would happily take her on her worst day compared to the insipid performances of today!!! I saw her in Austria in the mid 2000’s and although the voice was (obviously) lacking she was still absolutely thrilling to witness and I’m forever thankful for the chance to hear her live. But oh how I wish I could have heard she’d in her prime!!!

I'd have to disagree describing Ina's career as modest. In any case, Ina's voice is perfection to me and I've been inspired to follow her career and recordings as a result of this posting. This version of the Flower Duet is so heartfelt, personable and loving. I wonder if they kept in touch over the years.

I am into theatre, performance... and to watch these two amazing singers, so generous to each other, the pride on the face of the dark haired Soprano as the younger singer nailed it. The mutual appreciation of each others voice, or rather "instrument," is so clear... I wish I could "like" it every day.

Montserrat is certainly holding back with the power in her voice. She could've very easily outsang her colleague next to her.
